Based in Christchurch, Roy’s role covers the South Island and includes assessing new chemistry for suitability to the New Zealand market, and working on efficacy and residue trials.
He works closely with the Bayer team to support new product training and spends time with various industry groups in helping them to understand the fit of new products.
This involves late pre-registration and early post-registration technical support including trial work, demonstrations, training and industry collaboration.
Key to Roy’s role is developing an early understanding of new products and what value they can bring to farmers in the field.
Since joining Bayer in 1999, he has been involved with the early pre-registration and market support trial work of 12 different cereal fungicides as well as a number of herbicides, insecticides and seed treatments.
Roy’s area of expertise is primarily in arable crops, with experience in a number of pastoral and vegetable crops.
