David Parker, Territory Sales Manager, Mid - North Canterbury

Arable crops form a significant portion of Dave Parker’s territory that stretches from Ashburton to Kaikoura and over to the West Coast.

He has played a key role over the past 10 years in helping introduce merchants and growers to Bayer Crop Science’s expanded range of fungicides and weed control products. These include new generation treatments like Othello and Firebird. These products simplify weed control programs and help farmers deal with some volatile growing conditions experienced in recent years.

David’s experience means he has been exposed to the full spectrum of crops, including time spent in Marlborough and Nelson dealing with horticultural fruit crops.

Over the past six years he has been instrumental in helping more farmers become comfortable and competent at growing fodder beet.

Given its high dry matter potential and energy content, it has become an invaluable supplement crop for many dairy farmers and increasing numbers of sheep-beef farmers in the region.

It is a demand he sees likely to continue to grow in coming years as farmers work to maximise the return per hectare with more efficient feed sources.
