The Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) of New Zealand uses several medals to recognize outstanding achievements and contributions within the agricultural sector. The RAS Medal of Recognition is one such award, used to acknowledge significant contributions to the agricultural industry.
David is vastly experienced, having been in the industry for 42 years. In that time, he has assisted in achieving three Guinness World Records for yield, one for Barley and two for Wheat and was awarded the title of Agronomist of the Year in 2024 at the NZ Arable Awards.
David was presented with the medal at the 2025 Mid Canterbury Combined A&P Wheat competition final hosted by the Methven A&P Association. The original competition started in Methven 28 years ago and was an initiative of Ray McIntosh. David has been involved since day one, a testament to his experience, commitment and passion for New Zealand’s Arable industry.
David says, “I’m very humbled and honoured to be recognised by the Methven A&P Association. I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of Nicola and Ash Pace who have championed this event which now encompasses not only Methven but also Mayfield and Ashburton A & P organisations culminating in a Mid Canterbury overall champion for both milling and feed wheat sections”.
Congratulations David. A very worthy recipient.
